What’s It All About?

Weeki Wachee Swamp Festival 2027 | March 5th-7th

Swamp Fest was born from a simple but powerful belief:

When a community comes together, it can lift up those who need it most.

In 1994, a small group of dedicated community leaders gathered in the parking lot of the Weeki Wachee Area Club with one mission—to support local organizations whose needs were growing faster than their ability to fundraise. Many of these groups were doing incredible work but lacked the resources to host large‑scale events. Swamp Fest became their voice, their platform, and their helping hand.

What began as a modest neighborhood fundraiser quickly blossomed into something extraordinary. As more families, volunteers, and local businesses joined in, the festival outgrew its first home and moved around for several years however the festival’s heart remained the same, rooted in generosity, community pride, and the desire to give back. In 2018, Swamp Fest landed back at Linda Pedersen Park, where its spirit feels strong and its roots run deepest.

Swamp Fest is organized by Weeki Wachee Swamp Festival Inc., and after operating costs, every dollar raised is poured directly back into local charities, nonprofits, and community programs. The festival continues to honor its founding purpose: to uplift local organizations, empower small businesses and vendors, and celebrate the people who make our community feel like home.

What started as a small gathering has grown into a beloved annual tradition—one built on heart, hope, and the unwavering belief that together, we can make a difference.

“Hello Everyone, My name is Swampee and I’m the official mascot of the Weeki Wachee Swamp Fest, and I’d like to tell you who we are and what we are all about.”
